Arcade Cast Iron “Fordson” Toy Tractor – c.1929–1934
Step back to the dawn of mechanized farming with this Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast-iron “Fordson” toy tractor, produced in Freeport, Illinois circa 1929–1934. Painted in classic Arcade blue with bold red spoked wheels, this sturdy little workhorse mirrors the real Fordson tractors that revolutionized American agriculture.
Cast in two solid halves marked 264R and 264L, this model reflects Arcade’s precision mold system and unmistakable craftsmanship. Its seated driver and sharply defined engine block capture the optimism of the Machine Age—when horsepower was giving way to tractor power. Collectors recognize this version as one of the earliest true toy tractors ever marketed, and one that helped establish Arcade as a leader in high-quality cast iron toys.
Condition
Good condition overall with honest play wear and surface oxidation consistent with age. Retains a pleasing amount of original paint; wheels roll freely. No cracks, breaks, or repairs noted. Displays beautifully with a rich vintage patina that tells its century-old story.

Collector’s Note
Arcade’s Fordson line is celebrated as the first commercially produced toy tractor, preceding most other cast iron farm toys by years. This all-metal, spoked-wheel version represents the earlier and scarcer issue, later replaced by rubber-tire models in the 1930s.
