Antique Cast Iron Model T-Style Toy Coupe — c.1920s, Flathead Screws
This antique cast iron toy car represents an early closed-body coupe-style automobile, a form that became popular in the 1920s as cars transitioned from open touring designs to fully enclosed passenger vehicles. The compact proportions, upright roofline, squared window openings, and vertical radiator front all reflect this important shift in automotive design history.
The heavy cast iron body is finished in black, accented by gold-painted spoked wheels and molded details including doors, hood louvers, headlamps, and radiator grille. Construction with flathead screws is consistent with early 20th-century toy manufacturing methods. No maker’s mark is present, which is common for cast iron toys of this size and type that were widely sold through early department and five-and-dime stores.
Condition
In good condition overall. Paint appears original with areas of restoration noted. Surface wear, paint loss, oxidation, and light rust are present throughout, consistent with age and use. No major breaks observed, and the wheels remain intact and attached. Please review all photos carefully for details.
