Hubley Cast Iron Sedan Car – Driver Model, 1498L/1498R, Restored
Step back to the golden age of American toy making with this Hubley cast iron sedan, a finely crafted miniature from the late 1920s–early 1930s. Marked 1498L and 1498R on the interior castings and Hubley on the base, this sturdy little car captures the charm and optimism of the early motor age. Finished in vintage-style green with bold red and silver wheels, it even includes a molded driver figure at the wheel, steering his way through the Jazz Age.
Hubley’s cast iron toys were built to last — and nearly a century later, this example still rolls strong. The design’s crisp fenders, radiator grille, and upright profile mirror the real automobiles of the era, when craftsmanship mattered as much in toys as in cars.
Condition
Good condition overall; appears restored. The body and driver show a refreshed green finish with scattered paint wear and touch-ups consistent with restoration. A modern nut replaces one original axle end; wheels and castings remain intact with light oxidation visible. Presents beautifully for display with strong color and authentic vintage character.
