Cast Iron “ICE” Delivery Truck Toy, c.1920s–30s – 5½”
Step back to the days before home refrigeration with this charming cast iron “ICE” delivery truck toy, an authentic miniature from America’s early motor age, circa 1920s–1930s. Measuring 5½ inches long, this small-scale hauler captures the rugged appeal of the real trucks that once carried ice through city streets. Its raised “ICE” lettering, slotted stake sides, and original pale green enamel tell the story of a generation when both ice blocks and cast iron toys were delivered door-to-door.
Unmarked but stylistically aligned with the A.C. Williams or Hubley foundries, this piece belongs to the “take-apart” truck series—known for their simple, durable construction and dished metal wheels. The aged patina and craquelure finish give it wonderful visual character, balancing nostalgia with genuine period wear.
Condition:
Good condition overall with age-appropriate wear, oxidation, and scattered paint loss throughout. Wheels intact and roll freely; screw from the take-apart joint is missing. Honest patina consistent with age. Comes as shown.
