Description

Arcade Attributed Cast Iron Ford Sedan Toy Car, 8”, c.1920s

Step back into the early days of American motoring with this vintage cast iron toy sedan, attributed to Arcade Manufacturing Co. and modeled after Ford four-door automobiles of the 1920s–early 1930s. Measuring a substantial 8 inches long and weighing over 2½ pounds, this is the larger, more desirable size produced during the golden age of cast iron toys.

The car features solid cast iron construction, open windows, rounded fenders, a molded grille, and metal wheels secured with flathead screws, all consistent with early production methods. Arcade, based in Freeport, Illinois, was one of the most prominent American cast iron toy makers of the era, known for producing durable, play-ready vehicles that mirrored real automobiles of their time.

This example is unmarked, which is not uncommon for Arcade pieces, especially after restoration. The underside bears a handwritten notation reading “3/2C 4/4/22,” likely an inventory or restoration reference rather than a factory marking. Restored and repainted in blue, it displays attractively while retaining visible character from age and handling. A classic piece of cast iron Americana that appeals equally to toy collectors, automotive enthusiasts, and vintage décor buyers.

Condition
Good condition overall. The car has been restored and repainted, with chipped paint and surface wear visible in areas. No cracks or structural damage observed. Wheels rotate, and the piece remains solid and heavy. Wear is cosmetic and consistent with age and prior use. Please review photos carefully.
