Hubley Cast Iron “Bell Telephone” Truck No. 2011 – 1920s
Step back into the dawn of American telecommunications with this Hubley cast iron “Bell Telephone” service truck, Model No. 2011, produced in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, circa 1920s–early 1930s. Designed after the rugged utility trucks used by Bell System linemen, this solid cast-iron toy captures the spirit of the early communication age — when miles of copper wire were strung by hand, and service trucks like these kept America connected.
Painted in original olive green with gilt lettering and embossed tool compartments marked “CABLE,” “TOOLS,” “SUPPLIES,” and “KNOBS,” this example retains its nickel-plated side barrel, driver figure, and the distinctive wooden wheels with red hubs — all classic Hubley details. Underside markings — 2011, 2012, 20071R, 20071L — correspond to Hubley’s authentic mold identifiers, confirming its vintage pedigree. At over 3½ pounds of cast iron charm, it’s both a nostalgic display piece and a small monument to American industrial craftsmanship.
Condition
Good vintage condition with signs of age and use. Retains original paint with moderate wear and minor oxidation to exposed areas. Wheels show expected surface cracking and wear; one tire is flattened. Overall displays wonderfully, with authentic patina throughout. Comes as shown in photos.
