Champion Cast Iron Mack Stake Truck – Geneva, Ohio, 1930s, 7½"
A striking relic from the golden age of American toy foundries, this Champion cast iron stake truck was produced in Geneva, Ohio, circa 1930–1935. Cast in heavy iron and finished in its original cobalt-blue enamel, it bears the raised “CHAMPION” mark along both side panels — a proud hallmark of this short-lived but much-admired maker.
Champion Hardware Co. briefly turned its foundry talents from hinges and tools to toys during the early Depression years, producing rugged vehicles modeled after the Mack “C-cab” trucks of the era. Their toys, made in small batches, were known for their bold colors, smooth castings, and almost indestructible build — qualities that still resonate with collectors nearly a century later.
Condition:
In good condition overall, showing age-appropriate wear and signs of play. The paint appears original, with light chipping, small surface losses, and minor oxidation on the metal wheels. All components remain intact and functional, retaining strong color and presence throughout.
