Irvin Creston Cast Aluminum Hit & Miss Engine Toy – Vibrant Restored Display Model
A nostalgic nod to America’s golden age of farm machinery, this cast aluminum Hit & Miss engine model was crafted by Irvin’s Model Shop of Creston, Ohio, and is clearly marked “IRVIN CRESTON O” on the underside. Produced circa the 1970s–1980s, these small-run aluminum toys were made by Don Irvin, a machinist who recreated the charm of early stationary gas engines that once powered barns and threshers across rural America.
This example features bright hand-painted finishes — green body, red flywheels, and yellow spoked wheels — along with a flathead screw mount and delicate copper wire detail, evoking the mechanical ingenuity of early 20th-century farm power units. Compact yet full of personality, it rolls smoothly and displays beautifully, embodying the blend of artistry and engineering that defines Irvin’s work.
Condition
Good overall. Appears to have been restored, with refreshed paint and minor surface wear visible along edges. Metal body remains solid and stable; wheels roll freely. Comes exactly as shown.
