Arcade Cast Iron Coupe Car – Rare Orange, Model 106L/106S, c.1920s
This authentic Arcade Manufacturing Co. cast iron coupe car dates to the late 1920s–early 1930s and represents one of the most iconic forms produced during the golden age of American toy making. Finished in a scarce original orange paint with black accents, this example stands out immediately among more commonly seen colors. The body displays classic early automobile styling, including molded fenders, cast-in headlights, hood louvers, and solid spoked wheels.
The underside is cast “ARCADE FREEPORT ILL” and includes model identifiers 106L / 106S, consistent with documented Arcade production. Constructed entirely of cast iron, the toy has the weight, proportions, and casting texture collectors expect from an original example. According to prior owner documentation, this color variation is referenced in Antique Toy World (2010-2, p. 44), further supporting its recognized scarcity.
Condition
In good vintage condition, showing signs of use and age-appropriate wear. The paint is original, with expected surface wear, edge loss, and patina consistent with decades of handling and display. Minor oxidation and casting texture are present, with no major breaks observed. Overall wear enhances authenticity and character.
