Hubley Cast Iron “COP” Motorcycle & Sidecar #1724B, Red, c.1930s
A classic slice of early American toy history — this cast iron “COP” motorcycle with sidecar was produced by Hubley Manufacturing Co., Lancaster, Pennsylvania, around the 1930s. The compact 4-inch model #1724B features a uniformed officer astride his motorcycle, with COP proudly embossed on the tank and a companion seat ready for patrol duty.
Cast in solid iron and finished in original factory red paint with traces of black detailing, it rides on Hubley’s early artillery-style wheels, precursors to the later rubber-tire versions. Mold numbers 9, 1724B, 1889, and 1728 are visible on the underside — distinctive markers of Hubley’s foundry casting process.
Condition:
Good overall, with authentic age-related wear and mild surface oxidation to wheels and high points. The paint appears original, showing natural play wear but no evidence of repaint or repair. Displays beautifully with rich vintage character.
Dimensions:
Approx. 2.5" H × 4" W × 2" D
Weight: 5.8 oz
