Arcade Cast Iron Sedan “Yellow Cab” No.1327, c.1923–1926, with Driver
A finely cast Arcade Manufacturing Co. sedan, known among collectors as the large 8-inch “Yellow Cab” or Arcade Sedan, produced in Freeport, Illinois circa 1923–1926. The car retains its original orange paint with black trim, a cast driver figure at the wheel, and solid disc wheels typical of Arcade’s heavy cast iron line.
The underside bears the mold numbers 1327 and 1330, consistent with Arcade’s numbering system of the period. Number 1327 is documented as the company’s large sedan/taxi model, while 1330 appears on related molds and components. The form, scale, and detailing — from louvered rear panels to the bold fender arches — align with Arcade’s signature “Yellow Cab” series, inspired by the real Chicago taxi fleet of the 1920s.
Condition
In good condition, showing age-appropriate wear consistent with its near-century age. The paint appears original, with scattered chips, edge rubs, and light oxidation on the axles and wheel rims. The driver figure remains intact, and the car rolls freely. Surfaces display authentic patina without restoration.
