Arcade No.156 Cast Iron Buick-Style Sedan, c.1927–29
A classic from the golden age of American toy making, this Arcade No.156 cast iron sedan captures the bold spirit of the late 1920s automobile. Made in Freeport, Illinois, it bears the company’s hallmark cast beneath and the matching part numbers 156L / 156R, confirming its place in Arcade’s celebrated “flat-top Buick” series.
Painted in vivid orange with black roof and fenders, this sturdy 8¼-inch toy features nickel-plated headlights, a cast metal driver, and cream treaded rubber tires mounted on orange hubs with a rear-mounted spare. These details reflect Arcade’s reputation for realism and craftsmanship—bringing a touch of luxury motoring to Depression-era playrooms.
Condition
Good overall, showing age-consistent wear from play and handling. Appears partially restored, with areas of overpaint and touch-up visible under close inspection. Minor oxidation and surface losses, but retains strong color and form. Tires show light toning typical of age. Structurally solid, with excellent display presence.
