Arcade Cast Iron Buick Sedan, c.1927–30, Republic Tires, 8.5”
A superb early Arcade Manufacturing Co. Buick Sedan, crafted in Freeport, Illinois, circa 1927–1930 — a gleaming example from the golden age of American cast iron toys. Finished in rich, original red paint with a subtle gold beltline, this hefty sedan captures the elegance of late-1920s motoring with its detailed grille, upright stance, and nickel-plated driver at the wheel.
Arcade’s Buick line was among the company’s most celebrated automotive toys — built with remarkable realism and weight, meant to mirror the proud full-sized Buicks of the Jazz Age. This model rolls on white rubber tires marked “The Republic Rubber Co., Youngstown, O[hio]”, a correct and charming period detail. Both the front grille and rear-mounted spare bear tiny “BUICK” plates, and the underside is crisply cast “Made by Arcade MFG Co. Freeport, Ill.”
Condition:
Good, showing gentle signs of use and a pleasing vintage patina. The paint appears original, with small chips and light surface wear consistent with age. Tires show toning and light flattening; lettering remains legible. Solid construction with smooth-rolling axles and intact driver figure. A well-cared-for example with age-appropriate authenticity.
