Very nice linoleum block print of St. Francis, by Italian artist Gastone Vignati (Italian, b. 1924.) It is Professionally Framed in floating glass and signed "Vignati" in pencil, lower right. The print is titled “La Predica Agli Ucelli”, (Preaching to the Birds). The print has an embossed GV artist stamp lower right.
Artist biography: Over 80 years old, Gastone Vignati is a retired printer doing what he loves: linoleum block prints of Assisi. He works with his daughter Stephania at the Artestampa Gallery on Via San Francesco, in Assisi. As a young boy, Vignati worked alongside his father in the family print shop, as his father had done with his father. The presses and type-set have been in the Vignati family for over 100 years.
