A wooden model ship kit by Model Shipways, Inc., Kit No. 2015. Scale is ¼” = 1 foot. Laser-cut wooden parts, 60 pre-cut basswood parts including 16 hull frames, over 250 feet of basswood and walnut strips for planking, six sizes of rigging, 488 fittings of hardwood, brass, and Britannia metal, 14 turned brass cannon kits with cherry wood carriages. 48 pages of instructions by Erik Ronnberg Jr. and Ben Lankford, and 7 sheets of plans. History: in 1778, the FAIR AMERICAN, a 14-gun Bermuda-type brig registered in Charleston sailed with Captain Biddle’s squadron in the South Carolina Navy. After Charleston fell to the British, she dropped from the registries of that port but reappeared in Philadephia in 1780 as a privateer. Captured in 1781, she was put back to work as a privateer against the rebellious colonies.
