Description

Victorian Carved Mahogany Library Table

This Victorian library table exemplifies the elegance and craftsmanship of the late 19th century. Constructed from solid mahogany, it features a rectangular top with a simulated leather inlaid surface framed by nailhead trim. The base showcases intricate hand-carved details and turned legs connected by a stretcher with finely detailed cut-out motifs. The table includes a single dovetail drawer, adding to its practicality and charm.

Key Features:

  • Material: Mahogany solid wood construction
  • Top: Simulated leather inlaid surface with nailhead trim
  • Drawer: One dovetail drawer
  • Design: Ornate hand-carved decorations on the apron and stretcher, along with turned and fluted legs

Condition:

The desk is in good condition, exhibiting a rich patina. The brass hardware retains a natural patina. The structure is stable despite a split along the right rear bottom joint and some joint separation. It underwent restoration in the 20th century, and the key for the drawer is absent.
