Historical Notes: Abner Cutler & Son were esteemed cabinetmakers in Buffalo, New York, beginning production in the late 1820s. The firm specialized in rolltop desks and, by the 1850s, had been granted seven patents related to the desk's mechanism. By the 1870s, the company was known as 'Cutler & Son' and exhibited at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition. This table is a rare survivor and a beautiful piece of engineering in its own right.
