About the Artist:

Suzanne Kane is a renowned ceramic artist based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, whose work is celebrated for its intricate and expressive nature. Born and raised outside of Detroit, Kane developed an early passion for creating with various materials, which eventually led her to the field of ceramics. She earned her BFA in sculpture from Michigan State University and later pursued an MFA at New Mexico State University.

Kane's art is deeply influenced by the flora and fauna of the Chihuahua Desert. She is known for her mixed media sculptures that combine ceramics with welded steel, reflecting the resilient and adaptive qualities of desert plants. Her pieces often feature detailed representations of botanical life, including wildflowers, weeds, and cacti, capturing the essence of the arid landscape around her.

In addition to her studio work, Suzanne Kane has also contributed to the academic community as a part-time ceramics instructor at New Mexico State University. Her sculptures have been displayed in various public and private collections, and she has participated in numerous exhibitions, including those organized by the Doña Ana Arts Council and the Mariposa Gallery in Albuquerque.
