Carl Peterson
(1919-2009) An American painter known for his landscape watercolors and oil paintings. Born near Lindsborg, Kansas, he was deeply influenced by the Swedish-American artist Birger Sandzén. Peterson's early life in the Smoky Valley, surrounded by the beauty of central Kansas, fueled his artistic pursuits. After attending Bethany College under Sandzén's tutelage, he became a respected educator and later co-directed the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery. His professional career was marked by a dedication to both creating and promoting art, with a particular affinity for painting local landscapes and mentoring young artists. His works are celebrated for their vibrant depiction of natural scenes, often capturing the unique light and color of the landscapes.
