Oak Antique "C" Shape Office or Library Roll Top Desk

This early 20th-century roll top desk, exuding the charm and robust architecture of 1910, is a superb addition to any office or library setting. Crafted from solid oak, this antique "C" shape roll top desk is not only visually appealing but also rich in history, having served the Newkirk Herald Journal in Newkirk, OK. The desk’s design boasts a finished back, enhancing its freestanding placement flexibility and aesthetic continuity from every angle.

Among its practical features are five dovetail drawers, thoughtfully equipped with removable dividers, catering to various organizational needs. The two pull-out writing surfaces are evidence of the desk’s functionality, allowing for an expanded work area when required.

A partial label, hinting at the desk's provenance, is affixed in the top right drawer, adding a touch of intrigue and authenticity. A unique flip-top compartment ingeniously accommodates a typewriter, a nod to the desk's historical use, complete with a removable top for ease of access.

The roll top section, a defining feature of the desk, includes two wooden compartments, two small drawers, and six removable cardboard letter pockets, offering ample storage options for correspondence and office supplies. The roll top glides Well, maintaining the elegant lines of the desk when not in use.

Condition:
This piece bears the patina of time and use, with its finish worn throughout. The desktop reveals moderate wear, including ink stains that speak to its journalistic past. Some areas show chipped veneer, adding character to the desk. The typewriter storage's lock cylinder has been drilled out, and the roll top's handle is missing hardware, reflective of the desk's extensive use. Notably, the top of the rolltop shows finish damage, and the key for securing the roll top is absent. Despite these imperfections, the desk retains its functional integrity and historical charm.
