About the Artist:
Raymond Yazzie, born in Vanderwagen, New Mexico in 1959. Yazzie grew up immersed in the craft within his family's traditional hogan. Following his parents' separation, Raymond honed his silversmithing skills under his brother's tutelage, initially working at a trading post in Gallup. His mastery of precision stone inlay has garnered him numerous accolades and his works have been showcased at esteemed institutions such as the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Heard Museum in Phoenix, and the American Craft Museum in New York. The celebrated "Glittering World: Navajo Jewelry of the Yazzie Family" exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian George Heye Center in 2015-2016 featured 330 pieces of the Yazzie family's craft, highlighting the exceptional artistry of Raymond and Lee Yazzie.
