About the Artist
Donald Vann is a Cherokee artist from Oklahoma who is known for painting detailed landscapes with Native American subjects. Vann’s art is highly influenced by the art of Muscogee Creek artist Jerome Tiger. Vann was proclaimed “one of the best known Indian artists of the 20th century” by the Cherokee National Historical Society. The Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of the American Indian honored him with a top painting award for watercolor medium. His work is included in the permanent collection of the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
