$58 Sacagawea $1 Coins
- (58) Sacagawea $1 Coins
The Sacagawea Golden Dollar was first minted in 2000 and was the first dollar coin made with a manganese brass outer layer. The coin's obverse features Sacagawea and the reverse depicts a soaring eagle.
The 2000 P Sacagawea dollar mintage includes a variety known as the "wounded eagle". This is a rare error caused by a die flaw on the reverse that produces a line on the eagle's belly - these coins are unsearched. Another rare error is edge lettering, which occurs when the coin's date and mint mark are printed on the edge of the coin instead of its face. This error has only ever been found on one Sacagawea coin.
