Description

Hopi Kweo - Wolf Kachina Doll, circa 1950

This Wolf Kachina doll is a splendid example of craftsmanship. It boasts precise body proportions, a well-balanced stance, and an intricately detailed mask. The doll is adorned with a felt loincloth embellished with yarn, while its skirt consists of strings of twisted red and green yarn. A leather bandolier gracefully drapes across the chest and back. The meticulously carved moccasins are further enhanced with leather fringe.

In one hand, the doll holds a stick adorned with yarn and feathers, and in the other hand, a gourd rattle. The face mask is a true masterpiece, featuring a stunning array of feathers that beautifully complement the overall design.
