The following is from Kathleen Parker who writes: "David Cunningham Lithgow was a friend of my paternal grandmother's sister, Grace Brennan, and she left one of his beautiful paintings to my mother, who later sold it. I wish I had it now".
David Cunningham Lithgow : Sculptor, Painter, Muralist, Author, was born in 1868 in Glasgow, Scotland. He emigrated to the US in 1888 with his sister, Jessie and settled in Albany, NY. In 1890, he married his wife, Amelia. He opened an artist studio in at 57 North Pearl St., Albany, NY. He was Albany, NY's most famous turn of the century artist, who was commissioned to paint murals, oil paintings, sculptures, illustrate books, and the historical dioramas and mural for New York State Museum in Albany, NY. He died in 1958. Many of his paintings are in private collections and rarely come up for sale.
