This intriguing photograph was taken several years ago by our good friend Debora Smail. One is left wondering who fired the shots against this concrete wall, causing the bullet holes on the hard surface, and the impact this release of energy had on their psyche. Printed on canvas, this piece is showing a few signs of aging. Some areas of the white border have a few dark scuffs. See the closeup photos for details. However, this canvas is framable, and a frame would cover the imperfect border. The wooden stretcher bar frame is slightly warped. Originally valued at $250, this photograph is now a steal.
About the Artist:
Debora Smail, Houston, TX
Debora Smail grew up mostly in Cloudcroft, NM, but her love of photography took her elsewhere. Attending Eastern New Mexico University further stimulated her interest in pursuing photography as a career, but only after a few other entrepreneurial attempts in various locations. Debora has taken photographs for almost as long as she can remember, beginning when her mom and dad gave her a new Pentax K1000 camera with a 50mm lens from K-Mart for Christmas in 1981. Debora always has viewed life and her world from a slightly different angle from most people, and the images that emerge from her camera illustrate this. She captures pictures from a completely individual perspective, unlike what most folks see, and her photographs are wonderfully distinctive. We have carried several pieces of Debora's art at our gift shop/gallery Off the Beaten Path in Cloudcroft, and Deb's photographs often stimulate interest and conversation with our customers. Debora now is a professional photographer in Houston, and works primarily with culinary photography of food and chefs. This has led to her prowess in photographing for and assisting with designing and laying out cookbooks for several famous chefs and restaurateurs. Of course Debora takes the beautiful and incredible photographs of the food in the cookbooks, and her incredible talent makes the food seemingly leap off the page.
Condition:
Not so great - some areas of the white border have a few dark scuffs, and the wooden stretcher bar frame is slightly warped.
