Description

1952 Zenith model H845 AM FM Table Radio

NOTE FROM PREVIOUS OWNER: The Zenith C/H845 that works great. Never saw or heard a table model with such wonderful sound and sensitivity as the ‘845 series has (C/H845). This was one of the very best table radios Zenith made in the late ‘50s-early sixties. Two speakers, a true tone control, an RF stage that works on AM as well as FM, tow IF stages on both bands, and terminals for an external speak - this is a high-performance, high-fidelity radio for sure. Zenith halted production of these high-performance sets after about 1965.

Weird from end, Zenith uses a 12AT7 as AM/FM oscillator-mixer, 6BJ6 as AM RF amp and 6AB4 as FM RF amp, 2 - 6BA6 455kHz and 10.7MHz IF amps and 1 - 6AU6 10.7MHz IF. This radio has the hottest AM and good FM because the AM has an RF amp and two IF amps. They use (and was the problem I had) 19T8 as 1/2 wave rectifier but now has 1N4001 and 35ohm resister. And as good coo coo clock radios pleanty of bass boost and loudness on the volume control.

I found that Zenith used that almost identical chassis from 1948 to 1963 when the finally gave up tube radios.

The current value is $75 to $100, performance wise it’s worth a lot more.
