This detailed watercolor features a cowboy and his horse as in pursuit of a steer. In the background is a windmill and imminent sunset. The steer looks like it has almost given up trying to get away, the cowboy determined to catch him. Lorenzo Castañeda does an amazing job of catching a still view that still expressed the action of this rodeo scene that moves very quickly.The painting is signed and dated by the artist.The self-taught San Antonio artist (originally from San Angelo, Texas) often features western and rodeo scenes and subjects and uses brilliant colors.
