Antique Sterling Silver Muddling Spoon — Birmingham Hallmarks, R.E.S
Antique sterling silver muddling spoon with a barley-twist spiral handle, turned baluster finial topped by a small ball, and reeded collars transitioning to a tapered shaft. The deep teardrop bowl shows planished, hammered surface texture characteristic of Arts & Crafts–era English silver work. The long handle and sturdy bowl are well-suited to crushing sugar, herbs, and fruit at the bottom of a cocktail glass or julep cup.
Fully hallmarked at the back of the bowl: maker's mark R.E.S, Birmingham anchor (assay town mark), lion passant (.925 sterling standard), and date letter.
CONDITION Good. Surface shows scattered oxidation, light tarnish across the bowl reverse, and hairline scratches consistent with age and use. Hallmarks remain clear and legible. We'll Leave the Polishing to You.
