Description

Lionel Prewar O-Gauge Train Set — No. 204 Loco, 5 Cars, 120" Track

This prewar Lionel O-gauge set spans the late 1930s to early 1940s, anchored by the No. 204 die-cast 2-4-2 steam locomotive — a black uncatalogued model produced only in 1940–41 — paired with its matching Lionel Lines tender stamped "Made in U.S.A." on the chassis. Rolling stock includes the No. 1691 red tin-lithograph Lionel Lines observation car with open-platform observation end and tortoiseshell-print clerestory panels (produced 1933–1940), the No. 1679 yellow tinplate Curtiss Baby Ruth advertising boxcar with green roof and sliding door (produced 1933–1942), the No. 652 yellow tinplate gondola, and the No. 651 flat car. All cars ride on tinplate trucks with latch-type couplers and metal wheels and axles consistent with prewar production.

The lot includes 12 straight O-gauge track sections totaling 120 inches.

CONDITION

Good. The No. 1679 Baby Ruth boxcar retains strong paint with the advertising graphics fully intact, and the No. 652 gondola and No. 651 flat car display honest wear throughout their yellow finishes with scattered chipping. The No. 1691 observation car shows substantial paint loss along the lower body panels and roofline edge; scattered scuffing and minor denting are present across multiple cars consistent with play use. Untested.
