1972 Canada Silver Dollar – Voyageur Design, OGP Case
A 1972 Canadian silver dollar, issued in the final year of the Voyageur series struck in 50% silver. The coin showcases Emanuel Hahn’s iconic reverse design of a voyageur and Indigenous guide paddling a canoe beneath stylized Northern Lights, a motif first introduced in 1935. The obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the “Mature Head” portrait.
This example is presented in its original black leatherette clamshell case, decorated with the Canadian Coat of Arms in silver embossing, and in its official holder marked “Canada 1972 Silver.” The specimen finish and original government packaging (OGP) make it especially appealing to collectors. With a limited mintage of just 341,581, this issue marks the end of an era as the last 50% silver Voyageur dollar produced by the Royal Canadian Mint.
Condition:
Coin displays excellent detail with bright, reflective surfaces and light peripheral toning. The protective case remains intact, showing only minor wear consistent with age. Please review photos for confirmation.
